How do I install a foil strain gage sensor on a porous surface?

For precision strain measurement, the bonded, rolled-foil strain sensor should be attached to a contiguous surface with a surface finish of 1.6 to 3.2 µm. Irregular or porous surfaces may require filling with M-Bond AE-10 in preparation for gage bonding. An excellent example is concrete. For further information on surface preparation, see our Tech Tip TT-611 at: http://www.vishaypg.com/docs/11091/tt611.pdf
