Problem Solving using Photostress
With Photostress, an engineer can immediately see the result of real loads on a machine or structural part. One of the reasons that real testing and finite element analysis (FEA) compliment each other is that each adds strength to weakness. An FEA can help a designer form a valid design early in the process. The real test, such as with the Photostress technique, will validate the FEA and possibly identify assumptions that are missing or incorrect. In this Micro-Measurements® iNotes™ video, Keith Reichow of VPG Stress-Tek, shows how a problem was solved on the design of an amphibious vehicle using Photostress. Semper Fi.
