My Soldering Pencil Won’t Go There!

Sometimes strain gages are installed in locations that can't be reached with a soldering pencil, such as the internal surfaces of pipes, in a hole, in a tube, in a box, or even with a fox. There are two solutions to this problem. First, many strain gage versions have pre-attached lead wires. Second, it is possible to install lead wires prior to bonding the gage. See Micro-Measurements' Application Note TT-608 for details and instructions.
