Selecting Adhesives for Strain Gage Bonding

M-Bond 200 cyanoacrylate adhesive is often requested as a first choice because of ease of use, but its characteristics are acceptable mostly for short-term and ambient-temperature test situations.  Epoxies are always recommended for long-term gage installations.

Ask yourself:
1.  How long do you need the strain gage to operate to meet test requirements?
2.  What is the temperature range of the test?
